How Much Ephedra Is Being Consumed In The United States?

Current conservative estimates indicate that over three billion servings of Ephedra products are consumed each year. It is clear that, while sales of Ephedra have increased dramatically over the past five years, the number of reports of adverse events has decreased dramatically. The current national standards for these products have been the largest factor in this trend, and FDA enforcement of these standards and of current labeling requirements to prohibit sales of illegal Ephedra products, like “herbal ecstascy,” would also greatly benefit the public health.
